My grandmother went in for a CT scan showing masses on both her pancreas and liver. A biopsy was performed on her liver and the results were:
AE1/AE3: Positive in tumor cells
BER-EP-4 and MOC31: Positive
CEA: Negative
CK7: Positive
CK20: Negative
Villin: Positive
CD34: Negative
TTF-1: Negative
CDX2: Negative
The inital results were sent out for a second reading to determine site of origin.
"Profile Consistent with biliopancreatic or gastric origin."
My question is what does all of this mean? From just internet browsing I can guess that it is Pancreatic Cancer that has spread to her liver. She has a meeting on 11/26 to discuss the results but the family is wanting to be prepared so that we can have a good support system in place.

Hi mnall, I am very sorry about your grandmother's cancer. I do not know what the results mean. I am not even sure the pathologist is sure what cancer it is since he send a sample to another lab to determine to origin. He/she says that is "consistent with" either pancreatic cancer or gastric cancer. At this point, I am not sure if they know what kind of cancer it is. This is not uncommon for glandular types of cancers... especially in smaller hospitals without the lab facilities to do special microscopic tests. Hopefully, her medical team with know the answer next week.

You and your grandmother are in my thoughts and prayers.
