| Bi-lateral, nontender anterior, cervical 1inch diam, discrete, hard, rubbery, fixed lymph nodes. I have had them for almost 5 months, no change in size. One on each side. CT scan of neck done - no tumor shown. blood tests looks good. No other symptoms. My research says Lymphoma; Am I just scaring myself? Could this be something else? Only definitive way to know is with a biopsy which I am getting a consult next week. Anyone have similar symptoms? Thank you in advance |

phoenix2, I am very sorry about your current health worries. Yes, what you describe could be caused by other things. In fact, the odds are in your favor on this one especially since the CT showed no tumor. However, the only way to know for sure and getting peace of mind is to have a biopsy. So it sounds like you are on the right track. Let us know what you find out.

| Thank you for your very good information. It helps to take the edge off my worry. My thought is that since things aren't showing up in my blood work yet etc. that it is a low grade form. As you have probably seen, googling respectable websites puts this type of lymph node swelling in the hot seat. So what else could it be?? I am pretty sure I don't have cat scratch disease and am negetive for mono..I will get some form of a biopsy within the next 2 weeks. I've read that the fnb has an 80% chance of picking up the reed sternberg cells but if its negative I will always worry about that 20% and although I don't want a scar on my neck for "nothing" it may be best for peace of mind. I must say that even the thought that I may have cancer has put a new perspective to my living and has increased my belief in and increased my practice of compassion - the one bright light. I hate to even venture a guess because it is really impossible for me to tell. So many things can cause a lymph node to swell. There is even a condition called idiopathic lymphadenopathy (lymph node swelling due to an unknown cause). Hang in there and get the biopsy and you will know for sure.

| After seeing a general practitioner who confirmed what I believed to be chronic, bilateral swellings of the anterior cervical lymph nodes and sent me for over $3000. of tests and my ct scans were also described by the radiologist as swollen lymph nodes I was referred to a surgeon for a biopsy. The instant I showed him the swellings he said that they were my submandibular salivary glands and that no way he was about to remove those. I am headed to an ent - but relieved I don't have symptoms indicative of a lymphoma. Anyway - It is food for thought for someone who may find themselves in a similar situation with these swellings - apparantly these are relatively commonly misdiagnosed as lymph nodes |
