Hi all,
I guess I'm just another one coming here looking for answers that you can't give, but here I am anyhow! LOL
I found a painless lump in my neck a few weeks ago next to my windpipe. I wasn't concerned about it, and then yesterday I noticed that it was larger. Again, not too worried until a nurse friend today told me that I needed to get it looked at as it could suggest lymphoma. We chatted about it for a while and still not too worried I headed home. Once here I, of course, went online to see what I could find.
The thing that really startled me was the night sweats!!!! Okay, about a year ago I had some health troubles that after much testing ended up with no answers. The doctor said that in time it would either resolve, or something new would come up and we'd go from there. So over the last year, things have continued. Some seem resolved, some have worsened. I assumed that I was entering menopause. I'm only 34, but still, so much seemed to fit! So when I started having the night sweats (and I mean DRENCHED!!!) I thought it was certain to be heading towards menopause. Only thing is my periods haven't changed yet. LOL
Anyhow, I DO have an appointment for tomorrow. I have a GP who I can't get into right away, so I made an appointment with the 'backup'.
So what I was wondering about the night sweats is, is there a 'typical' lymphoma night sweat? Is there a frequence or infrequency that might suggest Yes or No to lymphoma??
Also, is there a correlation with memory troubles? That is one of the other issues that is HUGE with me and is a constant source of frustration.
Thanks everyone in advance. |

Hi Mom (for short ),
It's good that you have gone to your doctor, but enlarged lymph nodes can be caused by an infection. Your lymph system is there to fight off viruses and infection and will swell as they increase more cells to fight off the foreign bodies. Your doctor may give you some antibiotics and send you for blood tests to rule out some other issues. You are right night sweats are a B symptom of lymphoma, as well as low grade fever, fatigue and itching. Do you have any of these symptoms?
I have my own personal enlarged lymph node issue for the past 2yrs and just recently have been on antibiotics for an ear infection that will not go away. My lymph nodes are getting bigger I am seeing an ENT in Jan. If you have the same problem with the antibiotics not taking the swelling down I would tell my doctor you want to see an ENT doctor to rule out lymphoma.
Good luck.
