I have a question concerning whether the pancreas cntinues to produce Insulin if one has pancreatic cancer? My husband was just diagnosed as having PC -- and he was diagnosed as being diabetic this past September. Even now his blood/glucose levels are well within normal range. Does this imdicate that even with PC one's pancreas can still function and make insulin? My husand is on NO medication for the diabetes -- has been aale to keep it under cotnrol witn diet alone.
Thank You.

beejay31, I do not know the statistics about the relationship between Pancreatic Cancer and Diabetes, however, your husband is not alone. There are many people to have PC and then become Diabetic. I do not think that the pancreas totally stops producing Insulin but I do not think the cancerous cells produce any. So it may depend on the size of the tumor more than anything else.

I am glad that your husband is able to keep his blood sugar level within the normal range with diet alone. That means that his body is still producing some Insulin.

Your husband is in my thoughts and prayers.
