i've explained my fathers lung cancer in a prvious thread, he was diagnosed about 9 months ago. and it went to the Brain and Bones, now we noticing he is hurting in his bones, and the past few days he is forgetting everything and today he is not making any sense whatsover, he is almost like a baby today, says a few things that make sense but the rest no! He won't even eat much in the past few days and today he won't touch food! HE keeps telling me I'm Tired, i'm Tired, and he said once i'm going to die Tarek!!! 
i don't know what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Tarek, it sounds like he is depressed. He may also be extremely anxious, which cancer does cause high anxiety in alot of people. You can get his doctor to prescribe and anti-anxiety pill.....I can't remember what my mom was on. It can help with the depression too.
Let his doctor know how he has progressed. Ask for some help, advice, change in meds to help your father. As for the confusion, could be the brain lesions, or is he on any stronger pain meds?
Lung cancer patients, towards the end, and everyone is different, but most sleep alot towards the end. If on good pain medication and anxiety meds, it helps them to relax, which in turn, helps them sleep better.
I know it is scary. My heart goes out to you in the battle alone with your dad. Do you not have any support at all? |

I'm sorry to hear about your father's decline. My heart goes out to you. He could be dehydrated or it could well be the effects of the brain tumors. Dehydration can mimic a lot of things. We thought my mother's cancer had gone to her brain toward the end, but it was a simple matter of lack of fluids, electrolytes, and potassium. She was fine mentally once they gave her fluids.

| I'm so sorry. Please be strong. Your dad need you very much right now. Discuss this with his doctor. Maybe there is something that can be done. I know it is painfully difficult. You are in my thoughts. |

Hello he is better now, they put him on IV's and now he seems to be better and is able to hold a normal conversation and he is not saying strange things like he was a few days ago! Although ofcourse he is still confused a bit and gets iritated and yells very easily!!
We did the new scans and just got them last night, and we goto the doctor tonight so he can look at them! The newest thing is that one of his vocal cords is paralyzid so hopefully the scans will show no new tumor putting pressure on them!
I also noticed his eye color is changing, specially 2 days ago it seemed to go from brown to a light blue or clear almost for the entire day...very strange!!!
anyways we will find out to tonight! |

Tarek,
Glad to hear your Dad perked up with some IV fluids. He probably was dehydrated, so he needs to keep up with drinking fluids.
Hope the next scans come out good.

My mom gets very irritable easily but I told myself, it's not her. It's the disease. Let's give them all the comfort in the world.

Hello Tarek
It is so sad to hear your dad is so ill and not knowing what is coming next. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Because of the confusion you have experienced with your father, make the most of the good days by telling everything to him now. Take that photo/video for your future memories so you have something special to look back at.
Is this the end? My husband has been at his end according to Doctors for a few months now!!!! He is still here, sometimes I think its today, he is still fighting like hell and refuses to go!
I know the hell of this all and my God we are not alone. So go with the flow, try to keep courage and eat well. If your dads appetite is small, don't worry so much as he is not using much energy. There are high calorie desserts which are easily digested that you can buy from the pharmacy, these I found good.
Someone ill in the bed all the time gets so bored. Before my husbands confusion, I used to put the newspaper on the laptop so he could keep up to date with the world and also connect up the home camcorder/Cd's. Now of course he cannot read but we talk telling him everything thats going on around us as he is 99% confused. We still sometimes get a laugh out of him!
