Question Dr. Lee,
I had LRP about 16 mos. ago. I'm 63 and otherwise healthy. My last two PSA's prior to surgery were both 6.7. DRE negative, 10 biopsies with one positive, post surgery- T2b. negative margins, extracapsular negative , negative lymph nodes and seminal vessels. PSA post have been 0 until last one was 0.1 at 15 mos.
I've read Dr. Bob Leibowitz work on TRT and am impressed with his work. Are you familier with his studies and what are your feelings about the direction he his advocating by inducing rapid increase of testosterone to 1000+ level.
Thanks, Ed

Hello

I wasn't aware of his work. I do not, however, think that this is appropriate. I read his webpage in some detail, and I am not convinced at all. I also searched Pubmed to find how well published this doctor is. Well, it seems that he is not well-published at all, as a matter of fact, there is only 1 paper published in a second-line journal about his triple-blockade regimen. He is not even associated with an academic institution, but he has all his trademarks and customized regimens that people can only get from him.

To be able to support any treatment, there has to be evidence published in a major, peer-reviewed journal. For example, in his webpage, he still recommends cox-2 inhibitors to "prevent" cancer, even now that we know that Vioxx is actually a drug that can cause signifficant problems. Of course, no one could know that it was dangerous before the data was released, but there is also no data available that supports that people should be on COX-2 inhibitors. So just an example for you to understand why we think that way.

regards,
Leo

my cheating ex-husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer when he was in his late forties. He is now 54. he didnt want anyone cutting him so he did some research and found a doctor in LA who's new technique of triple hormone therapy gets rid of the cancer 100%. Well, he went through the treatment and is 100% free of prostate cancer. I don't remember the name of the doctor but I did go with him to the doctor for 'injections of hormone." He does have to take pills for the rest of his life though. I also know the he started getting man boobs too. LOL
Anyway, this procedure works and it has worked on all this particular doctors patients with zero return of any cancer of the prostate. My ex husband's psa was up to 7.0 at the time.
