Hi all:
I am new here, am I'm seeking your guidance & support. My dad has been dx with lung cancer. The pulmonary specialist performed a bronschopy test and the results showed that my dad has squamous cell lung cancer
We do not know which stage he is at right now. The lastest CT scan of the chest showed the mass in his right lung. He is scheduled for a PET scan this Friday. He has no breathing problems, but he is feeling dizzy sleeps a lot, and has trouble maintaining balance when walking. I read somewhere that this issue can be caused by neuropathy condition due to the pressure that the tumor applies on the nerve. Has anyone in here had any experience about this condition???
I truly appreciate your response. Thank you!

First of all, you are not alone. There are many here who have a loved one or two with lung cancer. My parents both have lung cancer. My dad has small cell lung cancer and my mom has non small cell lung cancer.
Your dad's doctor should order a MRI of your Dad's brain in addition to the PET scan.

Hi Jackie,
Welcome and I'm sorry you had to find us. There are many caring people here who will offer you support, comfort, and share their experiences on this journey.
I haven't heard of this nerve problem, but you might want to ask Dr. West at CancerGrace.org. You will find him to be quite a special doctor who devotes a lot of time to patients/caregivers online. He holds the most info of anyone on the internet when it comes to lung cancer.
Regular questions with a patient/caregiver perspective will be readily responded to here at the cancer forum. I echo what Kristi has said and hope the doctor will do a CT or MRI of your Dad's brain. They may take care of that at the same time as the PET scan.
We'll all hope that your Dad's cancer has been caught at an early stage and please let us know when you get the results.
Again, I'm so sorry and will add you to my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,

OldestDaughter, I am so very sorry about your father's lung cancer. The others who have replied are much more knowledgeable about lung cancer than I, so I will let them answer most of your questions just jumping in when I feel I have something to offer. What I do have to offer is my support. You and your father are in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know what stage his cancer is. _________________ Jim

Thank you Kristi, PBJ, helensgirl, and Jim for your support. It is a very difficult time for my family. It is amazing hearing what you all have gone through ! Your stories encourage me to get ready for the upcoming time.
The PET scan is on Friday, and I pray for a good outcome. I will keep you all posted.
