hi, I went to the ER last night to find out why i had pain in my lower left flank area, they did a CT scan and found nothing there but did find a small spot on my liver and told me to follow up with my physician, my question is could they have told me if it was a cyst or cancer from that scan? it really has me worried( scared alot!) they also told me left kidney shows irregularity and right has a cyst, do i assume since they could see it is a cyst on a kidney they can on the liver? thank you!

I would make the hospital answer your questions. You went there for help and a diagnosis as to your pain. Don't let them push you around tell them you want straight up answers today as to what they think it may be. There are many reasons why they may not want to explain exactly what they see but I am pretty sure they can tell by looking if it is fluid filled or solid. I have a cyst 5cm in the left interior lobuler of the liver. The radiologist, my oncologist, my surgeon and my regular physician all assured me it is only a cyst. They could tell by looking at my CAT scan. I am a breast cancer survivor so finding the cyst was quite scary. I made all my doctors look at the scan to be sure. Also my doctors told me that many people have cyst on their liver but are just unaware of them until something causes them to have a scan. They said they are harmless. I wish you well.

thank you for your input, i figured that was the case, just didnt want to be the bearer of bad news, your right, it is so scary! im seeing my physician soon so i guess i hear it then, thanks for your well wishes........and god bless!
