| Hi I am Zach and I am 16. I found out just after my birthday in May that I have a brain tumor ( which explains all my mood and personality problems). I am just curios to how long into treatment it will take for me to actulatly feel normal again. I have a germonia in the middle of my brain which could be affecting many parts of it. I just want to know if anyone does when I will feel normal again or how fast it would come back. I have been really withdrawn and I seriously don't feel like the same person. I am really quiet and its depressing me badly. If anyone knows anything about this it would be GREATLY appriciated. |

Dear Zach
I am very sorry to read about your brain tumour & emotional & physical side effects. I do hope we can help you, on this forum, with some information, support & comfort.
Although I am not familiar with "Germonia" I am certain there will be someone here who can help you with information. I am sorry your illness is causing you concern at the mo!
What treatments are you on or have you had for this condition? Have you had to have chemo, radiation or surgery yet? A biopsy of the tumour maybe? Is this tumour a slow growing tumour? Are you on any other medications? Any or all answers to these questions will help us answer yours!
Such a young man to be battling something like this, I really feel for you Zach! I can empathise with your feelings of being depressed & withdrawn, you must be very confused & frightened after hearing about your brain tumour. I do hope & pray you have good, solid support from your family. Mother, Father, any siblings? What about your Medical Team? Can they be contacted to answer some of your questions?
My prayers & thoughts go out to you Zach.
Cheers, Angie. _________________ Brother diagnosed with GBMIV Feb 07

Dear Angie,
Thank you alot for your concern, I misspelled Germinoma. I have had surgery for the biopsy and have had an ETV. It is a fast growing tumor. I am still currently on the meds given to me for the misdiagnosis of bi polar disorder. I have had one round of chemo so far, and I go in for my next Monday. Then I have 6 weeks of proton therapy. Then 2 rounds of chemo in the fall. I have a great family that's supporting me as long as a great medical team at MD Anderson in Houston. It's all going to work out I know it is |

Hi Grub,
It sucks that you have to go through this. My son is going through it as well. He was treated at MDAnderson and is doing great. If anyone knows how to beat such things it is the folks there.
Have you been to Kim's Place? My kids (older than you) said it had some pretty cool stuff and they liked hanging around there. I guess they have video games and stuff...I never went because they don't allow adults Ask the next time you are there and someone will show you where it is.
Take care,
David |
