My sister was recently diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in her appendix after the appendix was removed.. It was the most aggressive cancer type i was told..

Looking through various forums things appear to look very grim. My question is, is there any evidence of anyone fully overcoming this kind of cancer. I believe she has the signet ring cancer type in the tumour... Were all in a huge state of shock atm. My sister is also a young 31yr old mum with two young children.

Very early too know atm as she was only diagnosed about wednesday. The little we do know is she is having a section of her colon removed and if anything shows up then she will be on chemo... She had her appendix removed monday i think which was when the diagnosis was made after a biopsy of the appendix tumour. Tomorrow they will be using a camera to check out her colon before part or parts of her colon is removed on Tuesday.

The specialists seem to be taking a step by step approach or "cross that bridge when we get to it" train of thought in my opinion, im not sure if thats good or bad. I don't believe any of my family except for myself and my other sister are aware of the full gravity of this cancer due to surfing the net.

The most worrying other aspect also is that although the cat scan came up mostly clear, there was a shaded area or "lesion" on her liver.

Like most people I never expected anything like this to ever happen, esspecially to my younger sister. What ive read or hopefully misread looks grim indeed.

BTW thank you very much for such a quick response Smile

Hi Darren

This is such shocking news for your Sis! Of course you never expect anything as serious as this to happen to a sibling? I am so very sorry to read about this. Such a young woman...you must all be so very distressed & still reeling over what's happened with your Sis!

Please let us know more after the procedure on Tuesday. I will keep your Sis in my prayers, especially on Tues! If you can let us know if there is a cancer diagnosis (naturally we hope to hear a good & psoitive prognosis), I suggest you post your Sis' story on the appropriate thread. This way you will have a more positive response to any questions you might need to ask.

It would be preferable if you didn't read too much into what your research on the "net" produces? Best not to "jump the gun" before you have a clearer picture of your Sis's health problems. Keep us updated when you know more. We are a strong community offering, support, advice, experiences & love. This forum can be an "outlet" for you.

Thinking of you,
Cheers, Angie.
