For the past month or so I have had really bad back pain that keeps radiating down form my hips down my leg and into my knee, initially I have visited the doctors and he prescribed pain killers and sent me on my way, this wouldnt worry me but since this I developed pain in my ribs on the right hand side and was briging up heavy amounts of dark green/grey phlegm. Again I have been back to the doctors explained about the pain, coughing up phlegm what colour it was etc he listened to my chest and sent me on my way with antibiotics, this has changed color of what I am coughing up to clear, however the dull chest pain is still present.
I have worked myself up to thinking I have a lot of symptoms of Lung Cancer, and it is playing on my mind heavily, I am not asking for a diagnosis on here but wonder if these are the type of symptoms people presented with?
I haven't smoked for welll over three years, and was more of a social smoker when I did do. I am 29 have a six month old baby with another on the way next March and just want to see them both grow up.
Sorry for rambling on but it is constantly on my mind.
Kind of alarms me that your doc handed you pain killers... no dx.
Did your doc write you up for a simple back xray or MRI of the spine??? When you say back pain radiating down leg/knee I think 'sciatica.' Maybe thats why you ended up with pain killers.. BUT I would certainly think they should be ruling out any spinal defects. Maybe seeing an ORTHO or SPINE specialists would help with that.
Green grey phlegm sounds like a sinus or upper respiratory infection but who am I to dx or say for sure.... if you're not satisfied or if you're still worried.. maybe you'd feel better seeing another dr.
I hope youre fine and are able to ease your mind soon.. Good luck to you.
