Thread: Which prostate recurrence calculator?

    Which prostate recurrence calculator?

I have been checking the different prostate cancer recurrence calculators for some idea of the prognosis for the following from my pathology report after surgery. PSA was 20 three months before surgery, was going up fast so very likely several points above that. Gleason 4+4=8, stage T2a, no signs the cancer had spread. None of the calculators show very good numbers but I have noticed ranges from 60% chance of recurrence in 10 years to 25% between the calculators with the same information input. I would like to believe the 25% (Sloan Kettering) one but which one should be the most accurate? All of the reports also mention the term poor prognosis which has caused lots of sleepless nights. My first postop PSA was the last of July and came back at .04, hoping they stay that way. Are there any folks out there with the gleason 8 that still have zero PSA after 5 years?

    Thanks

I too have run into the same problem..The older tables give us a much lower cure rate..More up to date tables seem to give us improved chances..Prostate cancer treatment is changing so fast it's hard to keep the data up to date..

I posed the same question in the thread "Gleason Nine".
