    Large Hard Painless Lump on the lower back of neck on left side

    I'm a 17 y/o male and have a large visible lump about 1" in size that I believe is on the very bottom of my neck, well between the shoulder and neck to say it correctly, and it's on the left side closer to the neck.

    I think I've had this for about 2 years and recently touched it and realized it's still there. I'm not sure if it enlarged or not, maybe it was slight enlargement from how it was 2 years ago which I haven't measured so I wouldn't be exactly sure.

    It's painless, large, visible, and I cannot determine whether it's mobile or immobile. I would say slightly moveable because if I grab onto it with 2 fingers I could move it around just a little.

    Should I be concerned?

    Would a cancerous lump cause pain? Would I have noticed anything by now since it is a 2 year time frame? If a cancer spread, would it have started hurting?

    In addition, the inside of the lump feels like tissue or something. So it's hard, but it's kind of soft if that makes sense. It's not like rock solid.
    Is it a lipoma?

    I certainly do want to remove it, but just don't want a huge visible scar. But with the size that this lump is, I'm taking it into consideration.

    Hi gera

    Concerned maybe but not worried. At your age it is probably a sebaceous cyst which are totally harmless and benign. Show your doc and if it is a sebaceous cyst he can take it out easy. If it is not he can follow it up and you can come back here for support if you wish, but I have a feeling you will be OK.

    Can it also be a lipoma?
    By the way it's skin colored, not red or anything.

    It could be a lot of things that are benign, which is much more likely than any cancer. It's best not to guess and let the Doc sort it out and it is also best you see that Doc soon, so do yourself a great big favor and make that appointment.
