My mother had breast cancer at the age of 52 she is now 68 years old and has being diagnosed with bone cancer. She was having strong back pains and went into the hospital for an mri and cat scan and doctors told her that she had the cancer on her spine(spinal cord).
She is taking this new pills orally for chemotherapy. For now her pains are gone and seems like the cancer has stopped and she has to be checked every 3 months.
I know that no one can answear this with certanty but usually what is the life expectansy of a person with secondary bone cancer ?
For now the cancer has not spread to any other organs and she was tested 2 months ago. She is going back to get tested on february 5 again.
As you said, no one can tell you how long your mother has to live. I think I will move your post to the bone cancer forum. You might get more specific information there. However, before I do that, you said two totally different things… you said "bone" and then "spinal cord". Has it spread to the spinal cord itself are is it in her bones but putting pressure on the spinal cord?
I will keep you and your mother in my thoughts and prayers.
Hi and thx for reply.

Some day, I will write a thread called "First Questions To Ask Your Doctor."
Spyral, I do not know how much difference that bit of information would make. However, I am sure that it would make some difference on the approach to treatment. It is always the first question to ask. Has the doctor actually told her that it is breast cancer that has metastasized? That would be my second question.
Peace be with you during these trying times.
