Next stop - Lymph Node Dissection

So we've seen two more doctors and both recommend Lymph Node Dissection (Right Axillary). My husband is very concerned about possible side effects from this procedure. Has anyone had any experience with this they could share?

In addition they also want to go back in to the original site on his arm and remove a wider area ( the first wide-excision came back with results that showed "extending to margins")

What I'm most worried about now is the PET/CT scans next week. They DID say though that there is a 90% chance those scans will come back clear. Still though, I can't breath easier until that part is behind us!

KLM, the Lymph node dissection is the right move, in my humble opinion. It will show if the cancer has spread through the lymphatic system... especially if the margins were not clear. The PET scan does have a minimum size to be detected. While it is a very good test to find metastatic growth, this is not always true.
