    Cherylin, a few comments:

    1. I seem to have heard about Acutane before but do not know much about it or what it is used for. Is it a form of Chemotherapy?

    2. What type of cancer do you have? This forum in a cancer forum so we can only help you if that is your case.

    3. What type of surgery? You mention chest and lung but it that the surgery?

I think maybe the drug being referred to is Accutane; a drug used to treat severe acne? If that's not it I am sorry, but the spelling is so similiar to that drug that I had to mention it...

Yes, I don't believe that it has much to do with cancer.

The only thing I remember (because I was on the drug for a time myself) is that it A.) has the potential to increase suicidal thinking, and B.) it can harm the fetus of a pregnant woman. I don't remember anything about it interfering with surgeries nor being a carcinogen in any way...

Accutane is used often in treating GBM's. It is shown to shrink tumors in 30% of cases, but likely most effective when used in combination with other agents. M.D.Anderson has studied it and uses it currently. Do a search and you'll find more about it.
