Skull vulnerable after cancer treatment ?

hello i am 25 years old from israel

i am 1 year after 4 BEP cycles and 15 radiotherapy sessions to the head. my cancer markers are perfect and scans show only traces of the tumors.

the tumor is a mixed germ cell non-seminoma.

also had my left testicle removed 1.5 years ago.

today i am considered in remission.

ive recently been to my oncologist and she told me that my skull is very vulnerable right now and that it will be that way for at least 3 years after treatmant.

i dont remember if its because of the radiotherapy or the chemo...

any i would like to know more about this.. my doctor seemed unclear about specifics.

Hi bemljj, I am very sorry about your cancer. I suspect that what your oncologist said is due mainly to the radiation making your skin more susceptible to being sunburned. Some chemos can also do this although I am not sure in BEP is one of these. Just try to avoid the sun as much as possible, use a high SPF sun block, and wear hats more often.

    thank you for the reply!

i actually havent been doing that! i got a quite a bit of sun... what are the affects?

plus i was told that the radiotherapy made my skull more vulnerable to physica l hits is this true? the reason I'm asking is that I'm in to wrestling and i haven't practiced for a long time, and my doctor said that 3 years after treatment i wont be able to train in wrestling or even train with weights for that matter.

is this true? if not what would actually prevent me from returning to my sport? mind you that i have been training in swimming (she only allows me to run or swim) quite intensely in order to get back to shape, so i really am in top shape, so it is very frustrating for me right now
