    Hi deb

I had pretty much the same treatment as you did. The radiation also fried my ovaries so I am going thorough the hot flashes too. My treatment was stopped earl because of the neuropathy, but after surgery I had no evidence of disease, so my ONC does not think it will hurt me. Best wishes to you and keep letting us know how you are doing!

Well Day 6 appears to have been my worst day (and not due to the one mango marguarita the night before!) I laid around feeling miserable and tired all day. Lots of ileostomy issues--nothing was sticking to my skin. After that day, things got better. Day 10 feel almost normal again. Sleep habits still crazy. I'm learning to just nap when I'm tired and not worry about being awake at 2 am for awhile. The weather has been beautiful here--78 degrees in December!
Thanks to all for the encouraging replies.

PS. Maybe I didn't really have a mouth fungus. Seems normal now. Will check with doc on Tuesday.

    HI Deb,

Where is Texas are you? I am in San Antonio and can relate to the hot December weather!

Chriswife, I am just north of Austin in Round Rock. My oncologist at Texas Oncology. I looked at a couple of your posts. I also have a daughter graduating this school year. Seems we have a lot in common, including the ugly rectal cancer!

I know where Round Rock is! It is really nice there. I go back to the dr on Thurs to see what my blood levels are since my last treatment was a month ago. Now I have to see what the protocol is as far as screenings, etc......I pray that stopping early (at number 6) does not make the cancer come back, but as I said before the dr said he thinks my risk is very low.

CHEMO #4. Sitting in the chemo chair getting premeds. Blood results were great. The oxyplatin reduced by 20% for #3 and #4. Dr says better to reduce dose than miss chemo. I think they will continue giving me the neulasta shot and hydration on disconnect because I felt pretty good for the most part on round #3. I have my warm fuzzy blanket and socks. Temperature dropped to 30's this week but supposed to go back to 70's on Saturday. I am fortunate my next chemo is day after Christmas which means I should feel good for the holiday.
No mouth fungus--thrush--apparently it is a whitish fungus and my tongue had looked black. Must have been something I ate or drank that day.

I had a sleep in the chair an hour or so ago too.

I've pretty much given up on trying to stay awake during the day in the hope of getting a good night's sleep.

My policy now is to let my body be in charge, and sleep when it tells me to, and if I get wakeful during the night I have books, photos, videos and access to the internet on my tablet, so use it until I either feel sleepy or get up.

Glad to hear it went well otherwise

Ditto that David. I am on last bag of meds (magnesium) before I get the pump and sent home. Long day.

Wow! Got finished after 5 hours. Went home with the pump and heated up some pasta soup, then fell asleep for an hour and a half and woke up in a cold sweat. Crashed so hard I missed two phone calls even though phone right next to me! Made a fire in the fireplace but couldn't handle the wrought iron fireplace tools without gloves. Drank a room temperature V-8 but even that and the glass were cold. Lots of pins and needles in fingers. Think I need to keep the gloves on.
