Hi Deb,
If the pins and needles continues, make sure you tell your dr. That is how my neuropathy started and now I still have it afterbeing over 5 weeks since my last chemo. If it gets too bad, it could be permanent. Mine goes up my leg and my arm, and also I still have that feeling in my throat. Just let the dr know and dont be stubborn like I was for too long....lol (I always thought, oh, it will go away).

I had something the same today eating and drinking things at a quite cool room temperature.
And not for the first time, but only when something cool has been in contact and at the start of the cycle.
My cancer nurses have also told me to report bad and or persistent symptoms.
I have to concentrate on my lips to feel anything at all now though.
I'm not going to worry unless it gets worse, persistent until late into cycle or both.

Mouth numbness gone I think. Mostly have the finger tingles this morning. Thought I would add my FOLFOX6 drug regimen:
Chemo: Oxaliplatin, inj. 150 mg. Rate over 2 hours IV. Mix in 250 mL D5W.--NOW REDUCED 10%.
Leucovorin calcium, inj. 35 mg. Rate over 90-120 mins IV. Mix in 250 mL NS or D5W.
Fluorouracil, inj. 704 mg. Rate 2-4 mins IV push.
Fluorouacil, inj. 4220 mg. Rate over 46 hours pump. Disconnect on Day 3.
Other meds: Calcium gluconate mixed with Magnesium sulfate, inj. 1 gm each and mixed with 100 mL NS or D5W. Rate 30-60 mins IV. Add before Oxaliplaten to prevent toxicity. Same dose added after Oxaliplaten for same reason.
Palonosetron hcl (Aloxi) .25mg IV inj. (Anti-nausea)
Dexamethasone sod phosphate 10mg IV inj. (Steroid anti-nausea)
Fosaprepitant dimeglumine (Emend) 150mg IV inj. (Anti-nausea) (30 mins prior to chemo)
Lorazepam (Ativan) .05 IV inj. (Anti-nausea)
At home pills:
Lorazepam .5 mg (for nausea)
Dexamethasone 4mg (for nausea) (steroid to take day 2-4 of chemo at breakfast and dinner)
Prochlorperazine maleate 10mg (for nausea)
Also take multivitamin and Celexa 20mg to regulate mood issues.
More meds this year than I've taken my whole life before!

Deb- sounds as if so far your doing pretty good. all the side effects are par for the course. Im surprised you are still eating and enjoying? food. thrush actually is a type of fungus but is easily cleared up.the black probably was something you ate.

Deb,
I did have the numb tongue and lips and also my gums. This was WITHOUT eating or drinking anything. I cant stress enough that if it continues tell your Dr or the nurses at te treatment center. Some things can be irreversible from what I understand.

Day 2. Today was a good day. I took a hot bath to warm my tootsies, worked a few hours from home and did 3 loads of laundry, Finally tonight the cold touch appears to be wearing off a bit. I even had half a scoop of chocolate ice cream but it numbed my mouth a bit. My cheeks looked a bit flushed today.

Day 4. Slept on and off last night and able to work about 3 hours this morning, then the crappy feeling began and I felt listless and mopey the rest of the day. Was able to eat well and took a lot of naps. Stayed in my pjs all day. Just took a bath and ready for bed. Doesn't seem to matter how much I drink, I am always thirsty.
