    To my beloved husband Jerry

In loving memory of my dear sweet husband, Jerry, who passed into peace on August 14, 2013 at the age of 66. Here is a link to his permanent website: http://www.forevermissed.com/jerry-finney47/#about

We celebrated his life with a traditional Irish wake on Monday, August 19. Our celebration began with a bagpiper playing, "The Flowers of the Forest," followed by several personal stories and memories. An Irish friend talked about the Irish tradition of wakes and read Jerry's favorite poem, The Lake Isle of Innisfree by W. B. Yeats. As we toasted his life, we all raised a glass of Jameson whiskey with the traditional Irish toast, "Slainte!," which means "Health." The piper played a few more songs, we saw pictures and listened to music that Jerry loved, and we listened to a song written especially for him by songwriter Jonathan Mann. The evening ended as the piper left us in tears to the tune of Amazing Grace, as the setting sun came streaming into the room where we overlooked the woods. It was a beautiful tribute to a beautiful, wonderful man.

A funeral mass was held the following day, with readings he selected done by his sons. It was simple and lovely, as he wished.

The song, as well as stories and photos are posted on the ForeverMissed website.

I miss you, my love. You are truly "an grá mo chroí."

One Year Since You've been Gone

It scarcely seems possible that it's been a year since I held you. It feels like it's only been a few weeks, everything is still so clear in my mind. Of all the things that the horrid disease stole from you, from us, one thing it will never be able to touch is the depth of love I have for you, and that I know you had for me. I love you, my darling, and I hope you are finally at peace. Always in my thoughts, M
