There are good days and bad days

I have stage 4 esophageal cancer, and have been in treatment for about a year. I had 12 rounds of Chemo, a break for the holidays, and just finished radiation treatment that lasted 15 days. Right now the good days don't exist, but I am hoping they show up again in the next couple of weeks.

Hello Reese, welcome to the forum though I am sorry you have the need to seek us out in our little corner of the net world. I too hope that some good days show up again soon. I am not familiar with your cancer but from posts I have read here, treatment can be brutal and I am so pleased for you that yours is over.

    treatment is pretty darn brutal.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

    Only I will remain.

It's not over, I just get a break until they do more chemo. I will find out tomorrow how long that break will be.

I expect a call from my oncologist next week

Got the results of the PET/CT scan today and they were not good.

    1. Progression of metastatic disease as evidenced by increased size and number of numerous pulmonary nodules and new liver metastasis.
    2. New 8 mm nonobstructing right renal stone.
    3. 1.5 cm heterogeneous right thyroid nodule. This could be further evaluated ultrasound if clinically indicated.

I actually knew about the kidney stone, and was planning to get it taken care of in the break from chemo, which is probably going to be a lot shorter than my doctor was hoping. The worst part of this is that what is bothering me is not the cancer, it is my knee, which hurts like hell.

These are tough days for you, I am sure. I appreciate your "annoying friend" I think you are very lucky to have her urging you along. Make the most of all the moments you have. Sorry you are on this forum, not a place anyone wants to be, but good that you can check in, share, and vent now and then!
