Diagnosed with Cervical Cancer Stage 1a

Last November I had a pap smear that showed high grade cells (CIN3). I then was referred to gyno and had a Colposcopy which also came back with High grade cells (CIN3). I was then booked in for LLETZ which i got the results on Monday. It showed Stage 1a Cervical Cancer (microscope invasive). I then had a PET/CT Scan yesterday and awaiting hostpital appointment with cancer specialist. I'm so scared that I'm going crazy. I have not slept in 4 days and I have read all the bad things in the world on google. During my PET/CT scan all I could think is what if I have cancer everywhere. I'm going to my GP today to request something to help me sleep until I know what my furture holds. If I have a future. I have 3 beautiful children and a loving husband. We were busy making plans for our future. Now I'm heartbroken I might not have a future. I would love if anyone has had the experience and they could share.

Hi there. So sorry to read of your diagnosis. As you can see I had CIN111 back in the 80s.
The good news here is that yours is a VERY early cancer and it should be eradicated with the surgery. In your googling too you would have found that it is a very slow growing cancer.

The word cancer knocks us sideways. Google also will usually just fuel fears and get us thinking of worst case scenarios.

I will be looking forward to a post from you saying "yayyyyy, they got it all and all I have to do now is have more frequent tests for a while to make sure there is no recurrence."

    Hang in there.

I would love to hear your story as I am just beginning the same journey. I am meeting with the oncologist Monday to see what stage I am at. CIN 3 was found at initial coloscopy but they found it has spread after have a cold-knife conization. OBGYN says I need a hysterectomy for sure. I too have 4 little kids and that is what is most worrisome. I would love to hear what has happened next.
