Suzanne K Howell asked: Is there any place I can find a dictionary or list of all the terms, abbreviations, other esoteric words in order to understand posting and terminology related to treatment and postings? I don't understand the proper way to create a 'history', what a 'sticky' is, etc.

    Decoding technical or medical terms:
    NCI Dictionary of Cancer Terms

Terms you may see on this site:
    • NED - No evidence of disease
    • Dx - Diagnosis
    • Signature - A short history of a posters relationship to cancer that is at the bottom of every post they make. Signatures make it easier for others to remember what has gone on over time with a given patient. Instructions on how to create a signature are below.
    • Post - a single entry by a user to the forum
    • OP - the original poster of a thread
    • Thread - a series of posts in response to the first post
    • Locked thread - A thread that is not open to comment to keep it concise or because it has gone off topic for the forum. Moderators and administrators can add or modify content in a locked thread. Locked threads have a grey band with a small "lock" symbol across the icon to the far left of the thread title.
    • Sticky - A post or thread that stays at the top of the screen. They have the word "sticky" at the left of the title. Putting the word "Sticky" in the title of your thread WILL NOT turn it into a Sticky. Only moderators and administrators can change a post to a sticky. They usually contain information about that is considered valuable over a long time, rather than a simple response to a question.

    To create a signature:
    • Click on "Settings" at the very top right of your screen.
    • On the left of the new screen, under "My Settings", click on edit signature.
    • Two new boxes will open - one labeled "Preview Signature" and one labeled "Edit Signature"
    • Type your history in the "Edit Signature" box
    • Click the "Preview Signature" box under the "Edit Signature" box to update the upper preview box to see what your signature will look like
    • Click the "Save Signature" box before leaving or your signature will not be saved.

    Hope this helps.
