    Smile Esophageal Cancer

Diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer in October 2014. Had 3 1/2 months of Chemo and 28 Radiation treatments. Unable to eat or drink shortly after diagnosis and using P-Tube. After finding a tiny malignant spot under my armpit, operation was cancelled, forever. More Chemo! Diagnosed that cancer was gone early 2016. Had stent put in esophagus to enable eating/drinking. Stent slipped down shortly after and airlifted to hospital as I was coughing up blood, life threatening? Stent removed and dilation failed again. Opted for Ivor Lewis operation and surgeon agreed after many tests to show no cancer. Operation on March 16 2016. Still unable to eat/drink and had J-Tube. Speech Therapy to help throat muscels to work was successful after about 2 months. Now able to eat almost normal. Have resumed most normal activities like softball, bowling and gardening. Recent CAT scan showed no cancer!http://thetanseys.webs.com/Cancer%20Update.htm

Hi tanseyj. Well done. I have just joined the forum. I had chemo and the Ivor Lewis surgery in 2005 and I am still going. There are some side affects from the acid blocking medication I take but I am 72, traveling and enjoying life.

    Cheers,

    Walter
