    Pulmonary Decortication (reposted from

Has anyone undergone a pulmonary decortication procedure? My wife has had stage 4 ovarian cancer since 10/27/2015. She has endured two rounds of chemo treatment plus one trial. Her cancer is in her pleural effusion; attaching a catheter has not helped. Her doctor now recommends that she undergo pulmonary decortication to scrape cancer cells off her lung and chest walls. He will also remove a lymph node in her chest that is cancerous. Due to the tube she has had in her side since June 2017, she has now colonization of MRSA. They recommend that she under surgery as soon as possible. Has anyone had this procedure? What can you tell me about it? Thanks.

    Hi cmrigaux,

I am sorry, no I have not have experience with this procedure but I do with MRSA. I obtained it from improperly sterilized surgical equipment. I would ask, if you haven't already, the risk the MRSA is to the situation as it can easily spread. I just mention this concern as mine spread to my lungs and was extremely sick for sometime. There may be no risk at all, I do not know but again thought I would mention it.
