    Question Palliative radiation

    Hello:

A family member is currently going through radiation because she started having pain from a peritoneal tumor that is pressing against her abdominal diaphragm. She has done 6 out of 10 radiation but pain is still the same and no relief yet. Does anyone has experience to share please? should we be worried that radiation is not working?

    Thanks

I have been in touch with them but they have a wait and watch kind of attitude right now. The reason I posted here was to hear from the other patients and caregivers who might have some insight to share.

Hi Gina, my husband had radiation to small tumor in brain after the large tumor left behind, he did well and lived 18 more months. Hoping someone can help with your type radiation, My thoughts would be that they are trying to shrink the tumor to alleviate pain. And as the pain is not going away I would surely talk to them about that. Best wishes to you and yours, mojo

    Hi Gina,
I know this is now a while ago and you may not be checking this forum but if you are would you please let me know what they did for your family member? My wife has finished 10 bouts of palliatve radiation for pain caused by a tumor in the abdomen, the tumor is an unfortunate complication of the sigmoid resection that was performed. Several months have passed since the radiation and the pain has already returned and the tumor has defenitely grown. I am in the dark as to what may happen next.
