Autologous transplants are generally perceived as being less risky than allogeneic transplants. However, a certain percentage of autologous transplant recipients go on to develop the very challenging Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) or its precursor, Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Certainly worthy of consideration, since there will be no "Graft versus Leukemia" effect from an autologous transplant.
