    Pain meds side effect help?

How do you deal with the constipation that often accompanies the pain meds given to you? I know if you take laxatives and/or stool softeners too often, you risk your bum literally forgetting how to poop on its own and that's a big fear of mine.

Murilax is your friend. Place whatever the recommended dose is in a bottle of water, or any other liquid you might be drinking. You ARE drinking plenty of liquids while taking opioids, right? There's no offensive taste with Murilax, and it works very well.

Being from one of the digestive tract cancers, I’ve found that there are several knobs to play with to dial up/down the continuation/diarrhea.

Here are two easy knobs to play with:

Insoluble fibers, such as Whole-wheat flour, wheat bran, nuts, beans and vegetables, such as cauliflower, green beans and potatoes will help things move along (less constipation).

Soluble fibers such as oats, peas, beans, apples, citrus fruits, carrots, barley and psyllium will slow things down (less diarrhea).
