At the very recent meeting fo the American Society of Hematologists, one problem discussed was that of patients, particularly elderly patients, developing treatment-related MDS (MyeloDysplastic Syndrome). Above the age of 60, the general population is at higher risk of MDS, simply from the aging process. Certainl cancer treatments can multiply this risk.
