I had my girst colposcopy done today snd I am terrified..

Hey everyone I am 26 years old and for the past 3 years I have been having abnormal symptoms. Such as bleeding between periods, two periods a month. Pain during sexual intercourse. Also lower back pain like you cant believe it. All sorts of abnormalitys. But my doctor never took it seriously because he said I was "too young" and because all my tests keep coming back normal. My pap tests and HPV dna tests all keep coming back negative as well as an pelvic ultrasound. This is 5 tests over the course of 2 years. So I finally switched to his wife and Due to my symptoms I still pushed for a colposcopy today and finally my new doctor (his wife) looked closely during the colposcopy and my doctor said my cervix is "friable" bleeds very easily and she thinks its due to irritation from something and that she saw two slightly abnormal areas. I asked her if she thinks it is cervical cancer? But she said she def thinks it does not look like cancer or even pre-cancer. She said she almost certainly can say it is not serious. But with these alarming symptoms and her seeing those abnormal areas I am not resassured at all. She said she is going to send out 2 biopsys of these two areas to be on the safe side and ordered hormonal blood tests for me as well. I am terrified that it is cancer. Its going to take 7-10 business days for the biopsy to come back and I am mortified..

First I am sorry you are so stressed and worried right now but please try to take assurance in the objective findings in the tests done so far. and the good news they have given you. Please know I did delete your post in the cervical cancer forum as our procedure on here is that we keep you in the Worried forum until there is a confirmed diagnosis of cancer. I pray you never get a confirmed cancer diagnosis. I know these symptoms you are having are scary but they can be caused but various other conditions women endure such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, hormonal imbalances, inflammation, STD's, cysts, fibroids or even polyps. See the list is long and I barely have touched it. Abnormal areas can be areas of endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids or even polyps. I know you want answers now but the honest truth is all you can do is wait for the results. If you become too anxious, feel like you may have or are having a panic attack, reach out for help to your dr or local crisis line. Again may the biopsy come back negative and then you can put this behind you and move on with your life.

In my dictionary, "terrified" = anxiety. Especially since you have received a rather thorough exam and are still not satisfied. Have you asked doctor for some help, either short or long term for your stress and anxiety? I have only my own example. I am no hero, but I have had three cancers and was never terrified.

Anxiety is the true epidemic of our age. 64 million in the US alone suffer from anxiety. That is one in five. Help is freely available in either therapy of certain prescription meds. Do ask at your next visit.

08/13-02/14 Romidepsin increased, stopped for lack of response. Watch & Wait.
09/14 Relapse/Progression. Visible cervical nodes appear within 4 days of being checked clear.

04/22/15 TEC (Bendamustine, Etoposide, Carboplatin). Full response in two cycles. PET/CT both clear. Third cycle followed.
06/15-07/15 Transplant preparation (X-rays, spinal taps, BMB, blood test, MUGA scan, lung function, CMV screening, C-Diff testing etc. etc. etc.) Intrathecal Methotrexate during spinal tap.
BMB reveals 5) 26% blast cells of 20q Deletion Myelodysplastic Syndrome MDS), a bone marrow cancer and precursor to Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

12/17 Bone marrow biopsy reveals no abnormalities in the marrow - MDS eradicated. The steroid taper continues.
01/18 Consented for Kadmon clinical trial.
    03/18 Began 400mg daily of KD025, a rho-Associated Coiled-coil Kinase 2 Inhibitor (ROCK2).
09/18 Due to refractory GvHD, Extracorporeal Photopheresis halted after 15 months ue to lack of additional benefit.
10/18 I was withdrawn from the Kadmon KD025 clinical trial due to increasing fatigue/lack of benefit.
11/18 Began therapy with Ruxolitinib (Jakafi), a JAK 1&2 inhibitor class drug. Started at half-dose due to concerns with drug interactions.

To date: 1 cancer, relapse, second relapse/mutation into 2 cancers, then 3 cancers simultaneously, 20 chemotherapy/GVHD drugs in 11 regimens (4 of them at least twice), 5 salvage regimens, 4 clinical trials, 5 post-transplant immuno-suppressant/modulatory drugs, the equivalent of 1,000 years of background radiation from 40+ CT series scans and about 24 PET scans.
Both lymphoid and myeloid malignancies lend a certain symmetry to the hematological journey.

Believing in the redemptive value of suffering makes all the difference.
