    Dad passed away tonight

Dad drew his final breath with his daughter and wife of 60 years by his side tonight. My brother and I were in the next room and we all said our goodbyes.

Dad chose hospice care in the home just 19 days ago and they could not have been more supportive and helpful. It helped that all four of us were there to take care of him the entire time, but the hospice staff were outstanding in showing us how to care for our dad.

A new chapter will now unfold in our lives minus one of the main characters.

Eternal rest grant unto him and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his loved ones receive consolation in this, their time of sorrow.

I join PO18 in offering my deepest condolences. I never got to say goodbye to my Father before he passed away from lung cancer. I merely said "goodnight" to him because none of us had any idea that he would be gone before morning. Neither of us knew this would be the last time we would speak to each other.

I don't know which is harder -- being able to say goodbye or losing a loved one sooner than expected without saying our final goodbye. It certainly is no fun either way.

Praying for you and your family while also praying for eternal peace and happiness in Heaven for your Dad.

    Take care,
    Chuck
