    Second Chemo

My husband had his second chemo this week. Had the pump off yesterday. This one really kicked his butt sooner than the last one. Last time he felt fine during the time he had the pump and started to feel sick later in the day he got his pump off, this time he started feeling sick the night of. Then just nausea/queasiness off and on since. He tried to go work and after a couple hours today felt really fatigued and just an overall not feeling well, tired. Last time he felt off and on nausea but it didn't seem the bad fatigue hit until day 6 and 7. Is this normal for only the second chemo treatment? not to mention he is only doing the 5 fu right now, not the oxiliplatin. One thing I should mention the first time they did give him dexamethasone but in the past he had some bad reactions to it and his stomach felt really sick first round so he opted to not have that this time so that could be part of the early onset maybe.

Your guess is as good as any. We were reminded in our support group this week, not only everybody, but, every BODY is different. That makes it important for the patient to communicate how they are feeling to their docs.

I would think there might be other options for drugs to help with the nausea? Check with the doc. Hope things improve quickly..
